On July 18th, 2K Sports announced that Antonio Brown will be on the cover of Madden 2k19. Antonio Brown has been the face of the Steelers organization for the past five seasons. For five seasons in a row, Brown has recorded over 100 receptions and 1000 receiving yards in each season. Last season he recorded 1,533 receiving yards and 101 receptions. He is ranked second in the NFL Top 100, improving from fourth in prior to the 2017 season. He ranked first in the NFL in receiving yards in the NFL 2017 season, beating Julio Jones nearly 100 yards.

Even though the spring and winter lack any regulated NFL games, there is still a lot of activity going on in the NFL over the summer. Players are in mandatory training camp, retirements are announced, college players get drafted, or players either have their contracts renewed or terminated. Le’Veon Bell landed a one year, $14.5 million contract with the Steelers. However, that was not part of his vision during his time in Pittsburgh.

7’0 Center, Hassan Whiteside, made $23.7 million for the 2017-18 season. That number is tied for No. 20 out of all active NBA players, alongside Anthony Davis, Andre Drummond, and Bradley Beal. Next season, he is guaranteed $24.4 million, and $27 million of the 2019-20 season. He’s the highest played active player on the Miami Heat roster.
DWYANE WADE OFFERED 3-YEAR DEAL TO PLAY IN CHINA

According to Chinese media reports, Dwyane Wade has been offered a three-year, $25 million contact, to play in China. Wade would become the highest paid player in China if he accepts the deal. On July 18, 2018, Dwyane Wade signed a lifetime contact with the Chinese apparel company, Li-Ning, who he has been representing since 2012. His shoe clothing line was originally with the Jordan Brand, but he switched to Li-Ning.

UDONIS HASLEM: THE TRUE HEATLIFER

Udonis Haslem has spent his entire life in the state of Florida. Born and raised in Miami, Florida, Haslem assisted Miami Senior High School to back to back state titles in 1997 and 1998. He continued on to play basketball on the collegiate level at the University of Florida. His efforts assisted the Gators to the 2007 NCAA Championship title behind the coaching of future NBA coach, Billy Donovan. He also played with future Miami Heat shooter, Mike Miller, during his time in Gainesville. He was an AP third team all-american selection in 2001 and NABC second team all-american selection in 2002. During his time at the University of Florida, he met his wife, Faith Rein, who was a member of the Gators Track and Field team. In 2012, he was inducted into the University of Florida’s Athletic Hall of Fame as a “Gator Great”.
KNIGHTS ON THE AAC FIFTH ANNIVERSARY TEAM

The American Athletic Conference announced the AAC Fifth Anniversary Football Team. 30 current and former AAC players have been selected on to the team, and five of them are UCF Knights. The team is selected between fan votes, local and national media members, and a vote of the conference’s 12 football programs. The five Knights that have been selected are: Jordan Akins, Clayton Geathers, Jacoby Glenn, Shaquem Griffin, and Mike Hughes.

Last year was a remarkable season for UCF Football. The Knights finished the regular season undefeated, were the American Athletic Conference Champions, defeating Memphis, 62-55, and the Chickfila Peach Bowl Champions, defeating Auburn, 34-27.

Shaquem Griffin, 6’1 LB from St. Petersburg (FL), should not be looked at any differently from other NFL prospects due to him only having one arm. He has managed to excel through life with this disability, and should be looked at as a whole human being, and not just a money maker. In high school, he received 21 Division 1 offers and some of those are programs from the Power 5; Boston College, Miami, Minnesota, Kentucky, and West Virginia. If big football programs considered Shaquem Griffin as a Power 5 threat, then NFL scouts should look at him with the same respect.

Several players for UCF will be returning next season in hope to repeat as undefeated National Champions. Five players on UCF’s roster have been put on several watchlists for this upcoming football season. All of these players were an All-AAC selection last season.

Fans of North Carolina Basketball were worried about how the Tar Heels season would go next year because of Joel Berry II, Theo Pinson, and Cameron Johnson graduating, and Luke Maye pursuing his NBA career. However, UNC fans’ prayers were answered. On Thursday, May 24, 2018, Luke Maye announced to the world that he will be returning to UNC for his senior season. The stellar student-athlete from Huntersville, NC had a remarkable season last year and plans to continue his success onto his senior year.
JOEL BERRY II SIGNS WITH LOS ANGELES LAKERS

Alongside teammate, Theo Pinson, Joel Berry II did not get drafted in the 2018 NBA Draft. But that did not end his basketball career. Joel Berry II signed with the Los Angeles Lakers just a day after the draft. The former NCAA Champion and Final Four Most Outstanding Player will be taking his talents to the west coast.

Despite not being picked in the 2018 NBA Draft, Theo Pinson was still able to continue on his basketball career. Theo Pinson signed as an undrafted free agent with the Brooklyn Nets. Pinson played a massive role in helping the Tar Heels become back to back ACC Regular Season Champions, 2016 ACC Tournament Champions, and sending the Tar heels to back to back national championships in 2016 and 2017.

Former Tar Heels, Harrison Barnes and Marvin Williams, were part of Team World at the NBA Africa Game. Barnes is currently excelling on the Dallas Mavericks’ roster. Marvin Williams is entering his 14th season in the NBA, and is currently with the Charlotte Hornets.

As most Tar Heels have been waiting for, the University of North Carolina will finally be naming the playing floor at the Dean E. Smith Center after head coach, Roy Williams. Williams started his collegiate coaching career under Dean Smith at UNC in 1978. During his term as an assistant coach, North Carolina won the 1982 National Championship.

Jordy Kuiper, a 6’9 R-Sr. Forward from Groningen, Netherlands, was the definition of a true Spartan at UNC Greensboro. Kuiper obtained the nickname, the Vanilla Gorilla, from children coming to games dressed in vanilla gorilla costumes to support him. He excelled in the classroom, on the court, and in the community.

For the 2018-2019 season, UNCG Basketball will be adding two new players to their roster. Angelo Allegri and Mohammad Abdulsalam played for Link Year Prep for their senior high school seasons, and they plan on bringing their talents and chemistry to UNC Greensboro.

UNCG has had a lot of success helping their student athletes continue their basketball careers’ overseas. Wes Miller has no problem going overseas, and recruiting players to play for him. He also has helped a number of players play overseas during their collegiate years. James Dickey and Kyrin Galloway were two of 12 players selected to play on the USA East Coast Team for a week-long trip overseas in Germany, the Netherlands, and Italy from August 3-6. Also traveling with Dickey and Galloway is graduate assistant manager, Tom Tankelewicz, who was named as an assistant coach of the team.
